The Ballymaloe Cookery School Gardens are situated
in the rolling East Cork countryside, near the small
village of Shanagarry. The gardens which date back to
the 19th century have been carefully restored. The oustanding
formal herb garden with its array of culinary and medicinal
plants is the largest in Ireland. Other attractions
include the formal vegetable and fruit gardens, Celtic
maze, and pond garden. A wonderful double herbaceous
border leads to the spectacular shell house. Both the
farm and gardens are managed organically.
